Vintage French Silk and Rayon narrow Ribbons

I've been adding groupings of some of my vintage French silk and rayon ribbons for sale on Etsy. To offer my customers variety, I am offering one yard of each of four colours. These measure 3/8 to 1/4" in width. The ribbons are great for so many crafts, scrapbooking, miniatures, doll and teddybear dressing, ribbon embroidery and many more. I will be adding more colours soon.

Sharing Sunday, Flower Holders, Uses

My husband's mother whose maiden name was Genevieve Doucet was French Canadian and had a grandmother from France she would often talk about. Gen was a lovely lady who I really admired in so many ways. She loved her family, writing poetry and was in the garden, gardening almost every day of her life. She also loved flower arranging and the top right photo shows all of her flower holders.

Flower holders are very handy for other things as well, scissor holders as shown on the bottom left, photo holders and I thought I would show also a miniature use in the middle photo. The top left postcard is in Etsy, I've always thought the lady was so lovely and looks like an energetic gardener.

Thought I would show some of my lovely French sewing postcards that I hope to have up in Etsy with my other sewing images and small vintage scissor collection. Love the Eiffel tower scissors.

Cheers, Jean

First of all, thank you so much to those of you who are following this blog. This is a lovely lady delivering wishes. I was sent to Mademoiselle Desporte in 1904. You can either click on it and right click to save or download a larger version of it here. Just click on the blue download button at the bottom of the page, I'm sorry it is slow.

Free French Postcard, Gabrielle and her Bird Cage 1907

This free French Postcard from my collection was mailed with another two cards from the series in 1907 to a young girl in Cote d'Or. This was the first of the series where she looks like her bird is missing but it did come back. I loved her expression and the gorgeous table.

Here is a French Postcard I hope you will enjoy as much as I have. I really like the floral grouping too. It is one of the most romantic postcards from my collection. Translated approximately the message says:

My Dear and loving girlfriend,
I love you for life,
You who are everything to me
Why am I separated from you
Sad and lonely I sigh
love your face as
and your tender kisses,
But do not forget the past
Your poor exile,
Write to me often
Love me always tenderly
I live in hope of your return
And the memory of our love
I hope soon I will return,
And never leave you,
To you my kisses, the best
To you my heart is whole

Right click on the card to save it as a larger image. This is for personal use or for limited sales as a tangible product.
I have scanned in the back of this card too for the beautiful script written by a very romantic young man. It is available in my Etsy store.

Free French Postcard "Heureuse Fete"

Here is a free French Postcard for your personal use or used in a or printed for sale in a tangible form. This lovely postcard was sent in 1910 to Emile Gallais from her cousin on the occasion of La Sainte Gabriel. I loved the old French custom of honoring all of the Saints with a celebration. Lovely how the photographer surrounded this young girl with roses and flowers. I have given you three different versions of this postcard. You can right click on the card to download the images or you can download a much larger version at 300 dpi here through my 4shared folder.

You are welcome to the other digital designs I have put up there as well. You might like to check out other downloads 4shared.com offers as well from various people. I've been using the site for years for my other blog and it is very safe.

Please click on the image and right click to save on your computer. I loved the ocean scene since we live across the street and down a short path from the beach. the flowers are such an antique mauve colour that I found really interesting. This would be lovely as is for a gift card or used in a collage for your own scrapbooking. The second image in now available in my Etsy and shows how I changed the original postcard into a collage. I've been hearing so many beautiful birds singing every morning and can't resist working with my bird images.

More Bird and French Bird Postcard Collages

I'm still very excited about bird image downloads. When I was a weaver years ago I wove two bird tapestries, one of a pheasant and another very large one of seagulls floating over the ocean. Birds have always been a favorite theme through my life as I'm sure they are for so many people. I have really enjoyed bird watching and many of my watercolours are birds, such a wonderful subject!

New Bird Digital Downloads and Etsy Sale

First I would like to mention a sale I have on in my Etsy Store. If you buy 3 digital downloads you get 1 free and if you buy 6 you get 2 freebie digitals.

Here are three new digital downloads that I have put on Etsy recently. The top French bird postcard I love and posted a similar one a while ago with a lovely blue French stamp and script but I thought I would remove them to give more room for creativity. The lovely lilacs and birds is also French from 1903 and you can see that I put up another without the script too. Loved the very soft colours of these. My husband's mother was French Canadian her mother was from France so we really enjoyed our very short visit to France last year.

Have a great week, Jean

All I seem to want to do lately is design and fix up vintage postcards, mostly French ones because they are so gorgeous. I have been collecting postcards since I was 3 when my grandmother gave me her postcards that she had saved from Scotland, I was hooked and have been collecting since. I also collect antique children's books and other memorabilia. I seem to be am a collector by nature and I always enjoy all that I can about all of my collections.

I have always been interested in the way the French used to place their stamps and this postcard from my collection shows all of the sentiments involved. You can find this card with many others in my Etsy shop.   http://www.etsy.com/shop/jdayminis

I hope this blog will be a sort of journal through my digital designing.
